Terms of Service

These terms supersede the testnet-era terms previously kept at docs/TERMS.md.

1. Who operates this service

Querais is a decentralized AI inference marketplace operated by its founder as an independent project. No incorporated entity exists. When these terms say "QueraIS", "we", or "the operator", they mean the project and the individual who runs it. We do not claim any corporate status, registered address, license, or certification, because none exists.

2. What the service is

The QueraIS gateway (https://gateway.querais.xyz) exposes an OpenAI-compatible API. Requests you send are matched to independent GPU node operators who serve open-weight models (currently llama3.2 and gemma3:4b) on their own machines. Completed jobs settle on the Arbitrum One blockchain (chainId 42161): 95% of the job value goes to the serving node, 5% is a protocol fee. Payment and staking use the $QAIS ERC-20 token.

The chat app (https://chat.querais.xyz) is a consumer front end to the same network. This website (https://inference.querais.xyz) is its documentation and marketing surface.

3. Trust model — read this

The gateway is currently a trusted central operator. Job matching, verification sampling, dispute handling, and settlement submission all run on infrastructure controlled by the operator. Decentralizing matching is a future phase; it has not happened. In addition, the operator controls pauser rights over the deployed contracts (via a multisig) and holds the oracle/settler keys needed to operate settlement. Do not use QueraIS if you are not comfortable with that today.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally allowed to use the service under the laws that apply to you. By requesting an API key, creating an account on the chat app, or running a node, you represent that this is true.

5. Accounts, wallets, and keys

Gateway sessions authenticate by Ethereum wallet signature (SIWE). The chat app also offers Supabase-managed accounts (email/password and OAuth).
You are solely responsible for your wallet, private keys, seed phrases, API keys, and passwords. We cannot recover any of them. Anyone holding your keys or keys-to-your-account can spend your credits and act as you.
One person may be responsible for activity coming from their keys/accounts; report compromise immediately and we will assist where we reasonably can.

6. Paying for compute — prepaid credits, OTC token

Compute is paid from prepaid credit accounts funded with $QAIS. There is no faucet on mainnet.
$QAIS is acquired by over-the-counter direct arrangement only. There is no DEX listing, no CEX listing, and no token generation event. Nothing is listed anywhere, and no price is guaranteed. Any figure such as P=$0.01/QAIS is a reference price only, not an offer and not a market price. See Token Disclosure.
Credits are prepaid and non-refundable, except at the operator's sole discretion (for example, extended outage, or clear operator error). Asking politely costs nothing; entitlement to a refund does not exist.
The protocol fee (5%) is taken on-chain at settlement. Batch-settlement mechanics mean small timing differences between usage and on-chain records can occur; the gateway's metering is authoritative for credit balances.

7. Acceptable use

Use of any part of QueraIS is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy. Violations can cost you credits, access, and — for node operators — stake.

8. Node operators

If you run a node, the Node Operator Agreement applies in addition to these terms. Staked $QAIS can be slashed by the dispute process described there.

9. No warranty, no SLA, and AI outputs

The service is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. Availability is not guaranteed: the current infrastructure is small-scale and self-hosted, and it can go down, degrade, or stay down.
AI outputs may be wrong, biased, or harmful. Approximately 5% of prompts are re-run for verification, which reduces — but does not eliminate — dishonest or incorrect serving. You remain responsible for how you use outputs, for verifying anything you rely on, and for complying with your own laws.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time.
The operator may throttle, suspend, or terminate access — and freeze or deregister nodes — for violation of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, for suspected fraud or abuse, or to protect the service, other users, or the operator. Where possible we will tell you why; where necessary we may not.
The operator may pause the smart contracts (pauser capability) during an emergency or exploit. Pausing is a safety feature, not a service guarantee.
Termination does not erase public blockchain records, which are permanent.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost tokens, or lost opportunities; and the operator's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to USD 100 (or equivalent). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case they do not apply to you — this paragraph otherwise stays in force.

12. Disputes and law

If you have a dispute with the operator, email or open a GitHub issue first and try to resolve it in good faith for at least 30 days before pursuing any formal action. If negotiation fails, any remaining claim is subject to the laws applicable at the operator's principal place of residence, and the courts there have jurisdiction. QueraIS deliberately does not name a company or an arbitration body because neither exists.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms will change. Material changes land in the repository's git history — the diff is the changelog. Continued use after a change takes effect is acceptance of the changed terms.
